Barbies' galore

I’ve got a daughter who is at the age where Barbie is very important to daily life.  So this photo which I happened upon on the internet caught my eye. The mix of feelings it captures is fun: the excitement a kid feels as she approaches a gumball machine to the shock that follows when she discovers the horrific prize inside. The frustration of a parent who seems to see Barbie everywhere–in the bath, under the kitchen table, in the shoe cupboard, under the seat of the car–and would love nothing more than do away with all dolls named Barbie!

headless in carlton A few days after finding the gumball picture I was walking down the sidewalk in Carlton and came upon Anita here, who like the Barbie’s above seems to be in need or a body.  Oh dear!
